Travel

Before my stroke, travelling was freedom. We could go where we wanted without all the extra planning. Destinations or days out didn't need any deep thought. We could go for a wander and take the day as it came.

I still love going away, but it's not spontaneous.

Now I have to take things into consideration that would never have occurred to me. There are lifts, parking, accessible loos, distances to walk, and managing my energy levels.

I've had to learn that travelling with a disability is different. It takes more planning, more patience, and being ok with adapting.
